Greetings,
Welcome to the 2011-2012 School year!  Sageville Elementary serves students from Preschool to Fifth Grade.

Our school will continue to build great relationships with students, families, and our great Dubuque city this year!  Sageville will  focus on student achievement in math and reading while maintaining a positive school culture and climate.  We want to assure you that we will do our best for your child to experience academic, social, physical and emotional growth.  These are just a few things which compliment a challenging and engaging curriculum at Sageville School.

With these all in place, we will ensure success for each and every child at Sageville.  It’s your responsibility as a parent to keep in touch with us so that we know we are meeting your child’s needs.  A powerful connection between home and school can’t be beat.  We offer many regularly scheduled ways for you to know how your child is doing, but please contact us anytime you feel is necessary.

For your student,
Miss Jean McDonald

Did you know that students who participate have to read 22 books and remember the Title and Author for all of the books!  All teams did an amazing job reading and participating.

Our winning team will travel to Carver on May 15th to participate in the district battle against other elementary schools in the district.

On Friday, March 2nd Sageville will celebrate Dr. Seuss and reading.  This years theme is "green" in conjunction with the new release of The Lorax.  We will be having an all school read aloud and students are encouraged to wear green on this day.  A special guest will also be joining us to remind us about going green!

The Sageville Student Council wrapped up  a new public service project February 14th. They collected  donations to help children at an orphanage in Haiti. The donations  included bottles, formula, diapers and wipes, which the orphanage runs short of on a regular basis. This was a great way for the Sageville
Community to help make our world a better place for those less fortunate. The project also tied in nicely with our character pillar focus of CARING in February!

We will also collected homemade Valentines from our students to give to the children at the orphanage. We have a family which will be traveling to Haiti and they have offered to hand deliver the items and valentines our Sageville Community collects.

Celebration Assemblies

First grade shared a great caring song and taught us what it means to be caring.  For February we will be looking for CARING kids at Sageville.

Every month there will be a new theme for our Celebration Assembly.  For January it was Ballet and  we had a very talented 5th grader demonstrate the basics of ballet.

Music Concerts
4th Graders taught us about Abe Lincoln through music.  Great performance 4th graders!

2nd & 3rd Grade students put on an "out of this world performance" during their fall concert.

Reminder:  5th Grade concert is Thursday, April 26th.

January Celebrations

Congratulations to our kids with great character!
